The Mathematics of Surroundings

Exploring the Sum-Product Principle in Personal Development

Hello Readers, welcome back. We need to think about a better name for you guys. This community deserves a name, and I think it’s time for you to step up. Go ahead, and shoot some suggestions my way. I can’t live it Visioner (I understand it’s not a word) and maybe visionary is a little too common. Looking forward to some fantastic responses and fostering the community ahead.

I believe communities are very important, and the people you get accustomed to spending time with play a huge role in how you develop as an individual. The influence of upbringing and personal preferences on our social circles can be significant, but it's important to remember that our surroundings can also play a role in shaping our connections.

It’s interesting how networking effect works similarly everywhere, whether it might be a social network or a neural network. Although talking about neural networks will take us on a tangent, people who have studied neurons might be able to relate to this a little faster.

Consider your own social network. With the onset of social media, your network consists of 1000s of people, some known to you, some even unknown. Each plays a part in your life: how small or how large, that’s something you decide. Each person in your life won’t hold similar importance in your life, and let’s say we give some weight w to each individual. All the decisions that you make uphold a certain threshold, and each input from the people surrounding you multiplied by how much weight their input holds to you contributes to reaching the threshold.

You become the company you keep.

That’s why it is important to make a decision system aligned with your goals and values. This set of 5 closest people you spend the maximum time with will somehow either put on a better or worse part. Although this decision system will keep changing as you go through life, it’s important to pick and choose the best people at a given time. Your decision system will continue to play a significant role even if the bar may change from decision to decision.

The idea of a community filled with conversations is something I have given a lot of thought to. Let me know if you would like a forum where the entire community can support each other by answering these two questions:

  1. Would you like to be part of such a community?

  2. If yes, which platform would you prefer? Discord/Slack/Twitter/other?

 Want to work together?

When you’re ready, here are 4 ways I can help you:

  1. 🛠️ Promote yourself to 2100+ subscribers and 110k+ audience by Sponsoring Swirling Visions. (Booking into June)

  2. Want to get similar visuals for your brand? Fill out the form

  3. Did you like this week’s issue, post and tag it on Twitter or Instagram!

That's it! I can't wait to hear what you think. Reply to this mail or tweet me at me @mounika_2000 with what you liked about this issue, or what you want more or less of.
